Our client, a firm specializing in the professional services industry, is looking for a Senior Tax Manager to join their team of open-minded and knowledgeable professionals. You will report directly to the President, who is energetic and very open-minded, who likes to be approached with solutions and is a great listener. She is the opposite of a micro-manager and is a team player. You will work in a good multi-disciplinary environment where teamwork is a must. The position is partially offered remotely.
As a Senior Tax Manager, you will be responsible for developing tax plans and drafting memos, reviewing various tax forms (rollover, sales tax forms, etc.), managing tax audit files and drafting representations to tax authorities. In addition, you will be the reference for internal staff members as you will manage, train and coach a team as well as follow up with staff members regarding the impact of reorganizations on their files and ensure that deadlines are met. You will also have the opportunity to participate in special mandates (business acquisition, sale, building purchase project, expansion project, etc.) as well as distribute certain aspects of special mandates to internal employees, if required. In addition, you will manage tax audit files, draft representations to tax authorities, distribute compliance files among internal employees (if required), and support tax employees in training/mentoring. You will also provide advice on tax improvements and analyze internal practices and processes to implement improvements required to increase the organizational effectiveness of the department and the team. You will have the opportunity to build a great network of contacts as you will be in contact with clients regarding their tax files as well as the entire team and partners.
Bilingual CPA, with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in a firm and/or industry and a Master's degree in taxation. Proficiency in MS Office is required. We are looking for a candidate who has the ability to communicate with people as well as an ability to manage and train a team. The ideal candidate is autonomous, has a keen interest in business, is detail-oriented and is able to manage multiple files by setting priorities. He/she is proactive, effective and efficient, and is able to work under pressure while respecting deadlines.
