We are offering you the opportunity to join a well-established and growing Quebec-based manufacturing company that has built a strong presence across the North American market over the years as Senior Director, FP&A. Recognized within its industry, the organization operates in a multi-site manufacturing environment and continues to grow by focusing on innovation, continuous improvement, and the evolution of its management practices.
Reporting directly to the CFO, a personable and results-oriented leader, you will be given significant autonomy in carrying out your responsibilities. He values initiative and encourages his team to continuously identify opportunities to improve processes and ways of working.
You will have the opportunity to further develop the FP&A function, strengthen its processes, and grow a team of finance professionals within a transforming manufacturing environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance leader looking to take on a senior leadership role with strong exposure to both operations and senior management. Your objective will be to turn financial and operational data into meaningful insights and actionable recommendations that improve the company’s profitability and overall performance. The position is offered in a hybrid work model.
As Senior Director, FP&A, you will play a strategic role within the Finance team and will be responsible for advancing the FP&A function by strengthening its rigor, analytical depth, and connection to operations. You will lead a team of analysts whom you will have the opportunity to develop and grow, while implementing best practices in financial planning, performance analysis, and business partnering. Your role will combine leadership, transformation, financial expertise, and a strong presence within the operations.
You will lead the budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning processes, bringing greater discipline to financial assumptions and the monthly phasing of forecasts. You will also help structure the S&OP process in collaboration with Sales and Operations to better align financial forecasts with the order backlog and production realities. You will develop various scenarios, analyses, and business cases to support strategic decision-making and coordinate corporate reporting with key stakeholders.
A significant portion of your role will focus on understanding and improving margins and profitability. You will develop analyses to assess performance by product, customer, market, and plant, and work closely with operational teams to understand and challenge key manufacturing cost drivers, including labour, raw materials, productivity, scrap, overtime, and overhead. You will also lead the monthly margin review process to provide greater visibility into margin trends and enable the organization to respond quickly when performance gaps arise.
Your role will involve working directly with Operations and Sales. By maintaining a strong presence with the teams and on the shop floor, you will seek to understand the operational drivers behind financial results and identify opportunities to improve profitability, productivity, and the overall cost structure. On the commercial side, you will analyze profitability by customer, product, project, and contract, challenge the assumptions behind key decisions, and contribute to pricing strategies aimed at protecting margins and supporting profitable growth.
You will also play an important role in developing a more performance-driven and proactive culture. You will monitor key financial and operational indicators, quickly identify issues related to margins, costs, or working capital, and translate performance gaps into concrete action plans. You will also ensure the integrity of financial information and the KPIs used across various dashboards, providing management with reliable information to support informed decision-making.
As the leader of the FP&A function, one of your key priorities will be to structure, coach, and engage your team. You will work to raise analytical standards, develop the capabilities of the analysts, and strengthen their presence and impact with business teams. In doing so, you will help evolve FP&A from a function primarily focused on producing financial analysis into a true business partner to Operations and senior management. You will also contribute to growth and acquisition initiatives, including synergy analysis, due diligence, and financial integration.
This role represents an opportunity to take ownership of an FP&A function with significant potential for further development and to make a lasting impact on the organization. You will have the autonomy to implement best practices, develop your team, and bring Finance closer to operational and commercial decision-making in order to support the company’s performance and continued growth.
Bilingual professional with a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or business administration and more than 15 years of experience in FP&A, operational finance, or manufacturing finance. You also bring a minimum of 6 to 8 years of experience in a leadership role, including experience managing managers.
You have successfully contributed to building or transforming an FP&A function and have strong expertise in budgeting, financial forecasting, S&OP, and performance review processes. Solid experience in a multi-site manufacturing environment, combined with a strong understanding of operations and the shop floor, is essential. A CPA, CMA, or MBA designation is considered an asset, as is experience in mergers and acquisitions or within a private or institutional ownership environment.
An engaging leader with strong business acumen, you know how to develop high-performing teams and influence non-financial leaders. You are also comfortable communicating with senior management and the Board of Directors. You have a strong understanding of costing, margins, profitability, and operational KPIs, and are able to translate financial analysis into actionable recommendations. Results-oriented and focused on continuous improvement, you know how to ask the right questions and constructively challenge assumptions. Strong proficiency with SAP, SAC, and Power BI is also desired.
