Description

Are you looking to join a leading Quebec-based organization and play a direct role in high-profile mergers and acquisitions? Do you enjoy taking ownership of transactions, quickly developing a strong understanding of business issues, and building trusted relationships with a wide range of stakeholders? This is a unique opportunity to join one of Canada’s largest cooperatives as a Senior Advisor, Corporate Development.

You will report directly to the Director, Corporate Development, an approachable and highly collaborative leader who encourages open communication and gives her team the flexibility and autonomy to take ownership of their files. Cielo also enjoys an excellent reputation within the organization, where we have successfully placed several professionals over the past few years. This is a unique opportunity to make your mark within a broad business network and actively contribute to its strategic evolution. The position is offered in a hybrid work environment.

As a Senior Advisor, Corporate Development, you will play a key role in executing the organization’s growth strategy across its various business divisions. You will be involved in a diverse portfolio of corporate development initiatives, including acquisitions, divestitures, strategic partnerships, joint ventures, and expansion projects, and will support various teams in evaluating and executing these opportunities.

You will lead the full transaction lifecycle, from the initial assessment of an opportunity through transaction closing. You will perform financial and strategic analyses, contribute to negotiations, and coordinate the preparation of materials for senior management and the Board of Directors. You will be expected to quickly develop a thorough understanding of the organization, its cooperative business model, and its various divisions in order to assess opportunities within their broader strategic and business context.

A significant portion of your role will focus on financial modeling and the evaluation of investment opportunities. You will oversee the development, validation, and ongoing refinement of complex financial models, including DCF and LBO models, sensitivity analyses, accretion/dilution analyses, comparable valuations, and synergy assessments. You will also contribute to developing value-creation assumptions that support recommendations and investment decisions.

You will coordinate financial, operational, legal, tax, and ESG/environmental due diligence, working closely with internal teams, business divisions, and external advisors. As the transaction lead, you will act as the primary point of contact for assigned projects and ensure that the various stakeholders are effectively engaged to move transactions forward.

Beyond transaction execution, you will actively contribute to the organization’s growth strategy and opportunity pipeline. You will conduct strategic market monitoring, help identify new growth opportunities, and work closely with business partners to ensure that potential initiatives are aligned with the strategic priorities of the organization and its subsidiaries.

Your involvement will also extend beyond transaction closing, including post-transaction integration, performance monitoring, and the realization of expected synergies. You will help ensure that completed transactions deliver the anticipated value and achieve their strategic and financial objectives.

This role represents an excellent opportunity for an M&A and corporate development professional looking to work on a significant volume of transactions, build strong relationships with a diverse group of business partners, and contribute directly to the growth decisions of a large and complex organization.

Profile

A bilingual professional with a minimum of seven years of relevant experience, with strong exposure to transactions and mergers & acquisitions. Experience may have been gained in corporate development, industry, investment banking, transaction advisory services, or within an investment fund. Industry experience is preferred; however, candidates coming directly from a professional services firm may also be considered if they have been actively involved in M&A transactions.

The ideal candidate holds a university degree in finance, accounting, or business administration and has strong financial analysis and modeling skills. A CPA, CFA, CBV, or MBA designation is considered an asset.

We are looking for a strong, autonomous, and relationship-oriented professional who can quickly build trusted relationships with business partners, influence stakeholders, and effectively drive transactions forward. The successful candidate will stand out for their sound judgment, strong communication skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities within tight deadlines.
