Description

We are offering you the opportunity to join a well-established Quebec-based company operating in the environmental services sector as a Senior FP&A Analyst. With several decades of experience and complex projects across Canada and the United States, the organization is currently undergoing a significant period of growth and transformation.

You will report to the Senior Director, FP&A and Treasury, an approachable, personable, and informal leader who values open communication and maintains an open-door management style. Committed to the development of his team members, he recognizes their contributions and ensures they receive full credit for their accomplishments. Cielo also enjoys an excellent reputation within the organization, having successfully placed a professional with the company in the past.

This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional looking to join an organization driven by a meaningful mission and strong values, while contributing to a variety of projects in a context of growth and continued evolution of the finance function. The position is offered on a hybrid basis and may require occasional travel.

As a Senior FP&A Analyst, you will play a key role in producing and analyzing financial information to support management decision-making. You will be at the heart of the monthly financial reporting cycle and work closely with Finance, Accounting, and Operations to ensure the quality, reliability, and relevance of financial information. You will also contribute to the evolution of FP&A practices by actively participating in the modernization of financial tools, models, and processes.

A significant portion of your role will focus on financial reporting and the month-end close process. You will prepare and analyze financial results, perform variance analyses against budget, forecast, and prior-year results, and identify the key drivers behind the organization’s performance. You will also coordinate information from various teams to ensure reporting deadlines are met and provide analyses and recommendations that help management better understand financial and operational performance.

You will also be responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing complex financial models used for management analysis, mergers and acquisitions, capital investment assessments, and value creation initiatives. You will perform scenario and sensitivity analyses to support business cases and investment decisions while ensuring the robustness of assumptions, integrity of data, and proper documentation of financial models. Your financial modelling expertise will position you as a key resource within the Finance team.

Financial forecasting and treasury will also represent an important component of the role. You will prepare and analyze cash flow and cash position forecasts, monitor actual results against forecasts, and identify key variances and risks. You will actively participate in the annual budgeting process and periodic forecasting exercises. You will also support certain treasury activities as required to ensure business continuity.

You will contribute to the preparation of financial presentations for the executive team and Board of Directors. You will be expected to translate complex financial data and analyses into clear, structured, and relevant insights and present your findings and recommendations to key decision-makers. Beyond producing financial information, your role will be to bring the numbers to life and highlight the insights that matter most for decision-making.

Finally, you will actively contribute to the continuous improvement of the FP&A function by identifying opportunities to automate, simplify, and optimize recurring reporting, planning, and forecasting processes. You will contribute to the ongoing development of models and tools used in Excel, Office Connect, and Workday Adaptive Insights, while collaborating with various stakeholders to improve the quality and efficiency of financial information.

This role requires solid experience in FP&A, financial reporting, and financial modelling, as well as a strong ability to analyze and communicate financial information to a variety of stakeholders. It is an excellent opportunity for an analytical and autonomous professional looking for a highly visible role with management, exposure to a broad range of initiatives, from reporting and forecasting to investments and transactions, and the opportunity to contribute directly to the continued evolution of the organization’s finance practices.

Profile

Bilingual candidate with a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, commerce, or a related field and 3 to 6 years of relevant experience in financial analysis, FP&A, or financial modelling. We are looking for a candidate with strong financial modelling skills and advanced proficiency in Excel, who can transform complex financial data into clear analyses and actionable recommendations. Rigorous, autonomous, and proactive, you possess excellent analytical and communication skills and are comfortable collaborating with various internal stakeholders. A CPA or FPAC designation, experience in a corporate or project-based environment, as well as knowledge of Workday Adaptive Insights, Office Connect, D365, and artificial intelligence tools applied to finance are considered assets. Occasional travel of approximately 10% is required.
