Description

We are offering you the opportunity to join one of Canada’s leading professional services firms as a Senior Manager, Advisory Services. Recognized for the breadth of its expertise, the quality of its services, and its work with major Canadian and international organizations, the firm stands out for the complexity and diversity of its engagements, as well as its highly professional, collaborative, and stimulating environment.

You will primarily report to a Partner within a functional reporting structure, as you will act as a subject matter expert in your area of specialization. You will advise CFOs, Controllers, and Vice Presidents of Finance on the analysis and resolution of complex and strategic matters. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional looking to leverage their expertise, build strong relationships with senior finance executives, and actively contribute to business development, practice growth, and market presence. The position is offered in a hybrid work model.

As a Senior Manager, Advisory Services, you will play a strategic role within a team specializing in technical accounting advisory services, separate from the Audit practice. You will work directly with CFOs, Controllers, and Vice Presidents of Finance, primarily at publicly traded companies, to analyze and resolve complex accounting and financial reporting matters. Your role will combine technical expertise, client engagement management, business development, and team leadership.

Approximately 60% of your role will be dedicated to delivering and overseeing client engagements. You will lead the planning and execution of advisory projects involving complex accounting matters and will be responsible for the quality of analyses and client deliverables. You will prepare or review technical accounting memoranda under IFRS, ASPE, and U.S. GAAP and advise finance leaders on the interpretation and application of accounting standards. Strong expertise in financial instruments accounting will be essential to succeed in this role.

The engagements will be highly diverse and may involve financial instruments, leases, acquisitions, restructurings, complex transactions, or changes in accounting standards. Some projects will be short-term and transaction-specific, while others may extend over several months. Client diversity is a significant component of the role, with professionals potentially working with approximately 50 different clients each year, primarily Canadian public companies reporting under IFRS or U.S. GAAP. You may also collaborate with teams across Canada and internationally.

You will act as a trusted advisor to finance executives by understanding their business challenges and translating complex accounting matters into clear, practical recommendations. You will prepare and participate in presentations to clients and firm professionals while developing relevant technical communications for both internal and external audiences.

Approximately 40% of your time will be dedicated to practice development. You will actively contribute to business development, internal and external networking, and the identification of new opportunities within the financial services industry. You will also contribute to developing new service offerings, market initiatives, and thought leadership content to strengthen the team’s visibility and positioning in the marketplace.

Finally, you will play an important role in leadership and talent development. You will supervise and review the work of team members while supporting the development of their technical expertise, communication skills, leadership capabilities, and project management skills. Through your expertise, client relationships, and contribution to business development, you will directly support the continued growth and market presence of the advisory practice.
