Description

We are offering you the opportunity to join one of Canada’s leading professional services firms as Director, Due Diligence and Business Valuation, within its Corporate Finance team. Recognized for the quality of its expertise and the strong relationships it maintains with its clients, the organization advises businesses, entrepreneurs, and investors on key financial and strategic decisions. You will join a team specializing in transaction advisory services and participate in a variety of mergers and acquisitions engagements involving buyers and sellers across a broad range of industries. You will report directly to a Partner who is highly involved in engagements, accessible, and approachable. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional looking to further their career in transaction advisory services, strengthen their engagement management and business development skills, and play a meaningful role in the continued growth of the practice. The position is offered in a hybrid work model.

As Director, Due Diligence and Business Valuation, you will play a key role in delivering transaction-related engagements for buyers and sellers from the financial and business communities. You will support clients in evaluating mergers and acquisitions opportunities by analyzing key value drivers, the financial performance of target companies, and the risks and opportunities that may impact a transaction.

You will lead financial due diligence engagements and will be responsible for analyses related to quality of earnings, EBITDA sustainability, and working capital. You will prepare and review detailed financial analyses, projections, and technical models to provide a clear understanding of companies’ historical and prospective performance. You will also assess key performance indicators, competitive issues, and market-specific factors affecting target companies.

Throughout each engagement, you will maintain rigorous quality control and apply your professional judgment to identify, assess, and quantify key financial issues and risks that could influence a transaction. You will also oversee the preparation of high-quality client deliverables, including due diligence reports, presentations, engagement letters, and other client communications.

You will be responsible for planning and managing engagements from both an execution and financial performance perspective. This will include monitoring budgets, work in progress, billing, collections, and variances while ensuring that timelines and client expectations are met. You will work closely with clients to understand their business needs, identify opportunities to add value, and develop strong, long-term business relationships.

Business development will also be an important component of your role. You will actively network within the local business community, identify new business opportunities, and lead the preparation of competitive proposals tailored to clients’ needs and market realities.

Finally, you will act as a leader and mentor to team members. You will contribute to their professional development by establishing clear objectives, providing regular feedback, and supporting the continued development of their skills and careers. In doing so, you will contribute not only to the quality of client engagements, but also to the development of the team and the continued growth of the practice. Occasional travel may be required depending on engagement needs.
