We are offering you the opportunity to join a well-established Quebec-based manufacturing company in the food industry as Director of Finance. Recognized for the quality of its products, strong local roots, and entrepreneurial spirit, the organization is committed to continuously evolving its practices and pursuing its growth. You will report directly to the General Manager, a dynamic, people-oriented, and highly approachable leader known for her strong listening skills and open-door management style. Very present and involved with her team, she values open and transparent communication and remains accessible despite a fast-paced environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional looking to have a tangible impact on the company’s performance through product costing and operational performance analysis, process optimization, and continuous improvement, while building a strong team. This position is offered on a hybrid basis.
As Director of Finance, you will be a member of the management committee and report directly to the General Manager. As a true business partner to senior management, you will play an active role in strategic decision-making and the company’s development, while serving as a key resource for plant performance indicators. Working closely with operations and your team, you will also address a variety of financial, operational, people, and administrative matters while ensuring compliance with the company’s policies, procedures, and guidelines.
You will be responsible for planning, organizing, and coordinating the organization’s accounting, budgeting, and financial activities. You will ensure the quality and reliability of financial information, the effective execution of the full accounting cycle, and the efficiency of financial processes and controls.
Working closely with manufacturing operations, you will actively contribute to analyzing plant performance. You will monitor raw material yields, production and labour efficiency, as well as product costing. You will analyze variances between actual results, budgets, and forecasts to identify key issues and recommend practical actions. You will also ensure that inventory is properly accounted for and valued.
You will play an important role in financial planning and cash flow management. You will contribute to the budgeting and forecasting processes, prepare cash flow projections, closely monitor expenses, and participate in contract management to optimize the use of the company’s financial resources.
You will act as the primary point of contact for year-end audits and various government reviews. You will coordinate requests with the appropriate teams, ensure proper follow-up, and make sure that all required information is complete, reliable, and provided within established deadlines.
Finally, you will act as a true change agent within the organization. Working closely with the General Manager and other leaders, you will contribute to initiatives aimed at improving processes, generating efficiency gains, and supporting the company’s growth. Your ability to understand operational challenges, engage your team, develop practical solutions, and quickly implement corrective actions will make you a key partner in the organization’s continued evolution.
You are a bilingual CPA with a minimum of 7 years of experience in accounting and finance, ideally within a manufacturing environment. You stand out for your strong expertise in product costing and management accounting. Highly proficient in Excel and comfortable working with financial systems, you also have solid experience with external audits and the ability to dig into financial data to identify issues and develop practical solutions.
As a hands-on leader who works closely with operations, you have the ability to build, structure, and engage a strong finance team. Agile and resilient, you thrive in a high-volume environment where priorities can shift quickly and complex operational challenges require a high degree of adaptability.
Curious and focused on continuous improvement, you constantly look for opportunities to enhance business processes and improve ways of working. With a strong interest in emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence and automation, you are motivated to contribute to the modernization of the finance function.
