Market + Benefits
We are offering you the opportunity to join a fast-growing Quebec-based manufacturing company as Corporate Financial Controller. Operating in an entrepreneurial, multi-site environment, the organization is currently undergoing a significant phase of growth, structuring, and transformation within its finance function. You will report directly to the CFO and VP Finance, two hands-on leaders who take a coaching and mentoring approach built on trust and autonomy. Despite a fast-paced environment, they remain present and accessible to their team, with an open-door approach, regular one-on-one meetings, and clear quarterly objectives. This is an ideal opportunity for a professional looking to join an accessible, collaborative, and non-hierarchical team where autonomy, initiative, and sound judgment are genuinely valued. This position is offered on a hybrid basis.
As Corporate Controller, you will play a central role within the finance team and will be responsible for overseeing accounting activities across all entities within the group. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will lead the accounting managers of each entity as well as the corporate Accounts Payable team. You will also work closely with the FP&A Director and Treasurer to provide senior management with reliable, clear, and decision-oriented financial information.
One of your first challenges will be to develop a strong understanding of the organization, which operates in a multi-site and multidisciplinary environment that is more complex than average. Each entity has its own operational realities, teams, and processes, many of which continue to evolve as the group grows. Your onboarding will therefore be progressive, one business and one process at a time. Curiosity and active listening will be particularly important: the initial objective will be to understand the operations and existing ways of working before determining what should be standardized, harmonized, or improved.
A significant portion of your role will focus on the preparation and reliability of financial information. You will oversee monthly closings as well as the preparation and consolidation of financial statements across the entire group. You will also be responsible for the quality of financial reporting, including reports provided to financial partners, ensuring that all information is accurate, complete, and delivered within required timelines. In addition, you will coordinate audits, ensure compliance with tax and regulatory requirements, and oversee various matters related to insurance, bonding, government grants, and financing.
Beyond day-to-day accounting operations, you will play an important role in the transformation of the finance function. The organization is currently undertaking the progressive implementation of a new ERP system across its various businesses. You will contribute to the implementation, the harmonization of processes, and the strengthening of internal controls, while ensuring that new processes reflect the specific operational realities of each entity. You will also be responsible for several special projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
Growth through acquisitions will also be part of your responsibilities. You will participate in due diligence activities and be responsible for the accounting and financial integration of newly acquired businesses. In the short term, you will be tasked with completing the integration of a recent acquisition that has not yet been fully incorporated into the group. You will also soon participate in the recruitment of a Financial Analyst with a strong understanding of the manufacturing environment to further strengthen the team.
In collaboration with the FP&A Director, you will also contribute to the analysis of the group’s financial performance. You will analyze results, inventory, capital expenditures, payroll, and cash flow against budgets and forecasts. You will participate in the development of key performance indicators and dashboards and help translate financial information into actionable recommendations for the CFO and senior management.
The pace of the role will partly follow the monthly financial cycle. Approximately a week and a half will be dedicated to the month-end close, financial statements, and reporting. The third week will be more focused on improvement and transformation initiatives, while the latter part of the month will provide an opportunity to advance compliance matters and special projects. This structure will remain flexible, however, as a growing organization may face urgent matters and shifting priorities that require work to be reprioritized quickly.
Ultimately, your success in this role will depend as much on your ability to manage complex financial matters as on your ability to navigate an evolving entrepreneurial organization. You will need to take a step back, understand the different realities of the group’s businesses, and determine where processes need to be structured, harmonized, or simply improved. You will act as a true right hand to the CFO on accounting and financial matters while building strong relationships with operational teams and leaders across the group.
A bilingual CPA with over 10 years of experience in accounting and finance, ideally within a manufacturing, project-based, or construction environment. You have strong experience in financial consolidation, reporting to financial institutions, as well as inventory and work-in-progress (WIP) management.
You have a solid understanding of Canadian tax compliance, including GST/QST, and the ability to identify potential tax and regulatory issues. Experience in a U.S. environment, including exposure to U.S. taxes, is considered an asset.
Comfortable working with financial systems, you have experience with ERP platforms and have ideally participated in an ERP implementation. Knowledge of Acumatica or Procore, as well as experience in a high-growth environment involving acquisitions or international transactions, would be considered strong assets.
A collaborative, hands-on leader who works closely with operations, you are recognized for your leadership, business judgment, attention to detail, and autonomy. You thrive in entrepreneurial, non-hierarchical environments where everyone is willing to contribute. A true intrapreneur, you take initiative, find solutions, and are not afraid to roll up your sleeves to get things done.
