Description

We offer you the opportunity to join a well-established North American manufacturing company recognized in its industry as an Assistant Controller. As part of a major international industrial group, the organization benefits from the stability and resources of a large corporation while maintaining an entrepreneurial culture and strong connection to its operations. You will work in a multi-site manufacturing environment comprising several plants, where the organization is actively working to harmonize practices, strengthen internal controls, and create greater synergies across its teams. You will report directly to the Corporate Controller, a manager well known to Cielo who promotes an approach based on autonomy, trust, and feedback. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional looking to grow in a transforming environment where collaboration, continuous improvement, and change management play an important role. You will have the autonomy to take ownership of your responsibilities, contribute to key initiatives, and have a tangible impact on the evolution of financial processes and practices. This position is offered in a hybrid work model.

As Assistant Corporate Controller, you will play a key role within the finance team and will be responsible for ensuring the reliability of financial information, the quality of the closing process, and the maintenance of strong internal controls. You will work in a manufacturing environment comprising several plants and gain broad visibility into the organization’s corporate and consolidated financial results.

You will play an important role in the month-end close process, which is completed within three days. You will be responsible for reviewing and approving journal entries, account analyses, balance sheet accounts, and accruals, while ensuring the integrity and reliability of financial results.

You will also contribute to the continued development and optimization of OneStream, the organization’s consolidation system, by enhancing controls, reporting, and variance analysis. On a quarterly basis, you will participate in financial reporting to the parent company and perform more in-depth performance analyses. You will also contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and monthly SG&A expense analysis.

Once the closing activities are completed, a significant portion of your role will be dedicated to continuous improvement projects, including the implementation and maintenance of internal controls, optimization of financial processes, and initiatives aimed at increasing the overall efficiency of the finance function. You will also be involved in internal and external audits, as well as the preparation of annual financial statements and related notes.

Finally, you will act as a business partner to the finance teams across the various plants and contribute to harmonizing practices and creating greater synergies between sites. This change management component will be particularly important in an environment where teams have historically operated independently. You will also supervise a Financial Analyst and contribute to their professional development.

Profile

CPA candidate with over 8 years of experience in accounting and financial reporting, including several years in an Assistant Controller or senior-level role. We are primarily looking for a candidate with strong experience in the manufacturing industry, ideally within a multi-site environment, as well as a solid understanding of inventory and cost accounting. The candidate should have strong expertise in financial accounting, internal controls, consolidation, and financial analysis, while also being able to support plant teams on operational matters. Strong knowledge of US GAAP or IFRS is required, while exposure to U.S. taxation is considered an asset. Previous experience in public accounting will be viewed favorably; however, significant hands-on industry experience will be preferred. Bilingual in French and English, the ideal candidate will also demonstrate strong analytical skills, a collaborative leadership style, and the ability to navigate effectively within a transforming manufacturing environment.
