Description

We offer you the opportunity to join a well-established Quebec-based company recognized in the manufacturing sector as a Financial Analyst. With a presence in Quebec spanning several decades and multiple locations and divisions, the organization stands out for its expertise, the quality of its products, and its commitment to continuously modernizing its ways of working. You will report to the Corporate Controller, a manager we placed last year who promotes an approach focused on mentorship, coaching, and professional development. This role will also provide excellent visibility with senior management and the opportunity to collaborate with key stakeholders across the organization. It is an excellent opportunity for a professional looking to grow within a multi-site manufacturing SME environment where autonomy, curiosity, and initiative are highly valued. You will have the opportunity to develop an in-depth understanding of the operations, contribute to several improvement initiatives, and have a tangible impact on the evolution of the finance function. This position is offered in a hybrid work model.

As a Financial Analyst, you will join the corporate finance team and report directly to the Corporate Controller while working closely with the Director of Finance. You will play a key role in ensuring the reliability of financial information, analyzing business performance, and continuously improving financial processes. The position will allow you to develop a broad understanding of the organization and its various entities while combining responsibilities across financial accounting, reporting, analysis, and process optimization.

Approximately 50% of your role will be dedicated to recurring month-end activities. You will participate in the preparation of monthly financial statements, journal entries, reconciliations, and the analysis of balance sheet and income statement accounts. You will also contribute to the preparation and analysis of financial reports and key performance indicators for management and various stakeholders. One of the key objectives will be to help optimize the month-end close process, which currently takes approximately two weeks, with the goal of gradually reducing it to approximately one week.

The other 50% of your role will focus primarily on process improvement, reporting, and supporting various finance activities. You will help enhance the team's tools and ways of working to improve the quality, timeliness, and relevance of financial information. This will include improving management reporting, standardizing internal processes, and developing tools to automate certain tasks and increase the overall efficiency of the finance function.

You will also contribute to financial planning and analysis activities. You will participate in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial plans for the group's various entities, as well as data consolidation and variance analysis. You will maintain and develop financial models and perform profitability, cost, and margin analyses to provide greater insight into business performance and support decision-making.

A significant component of your role will involve partnering with internal teams. You will collaborate with Finance, Operations, Sales, and management to understand financial results, identify key variances and opportunities for improvement, and ensure appropriate follow-up on action plans. You will also support the finance team on various matters, including treasury, intercompany transactions, consolidation, and certain FP&A activities.

One of the key challenges of the position will be developing a thorough understanding of an environment comprising multiple entities that currently operate with different accounting systems. You will need to be comfortable navigating these systems, understanding their specific features and processes, and working with data from multiple sources. With future system integrations planned, you will actively participate in financial system implementation and enhancement projects, as well as initiatives aimed at harmonizing processes and practices across the organization.

Finally, you will contribute to maintaining and strengthening internal controls, collaborate with external auditors during the annual audit process, and participate in various special projects within the finance function. This role offers the opportunity to go beyond traditional accounting responsibilities and make a tangible contribution to transforming financial reporting, improving process efficiency, and supporting the continued evolution of the finance function within a multi-division organization undergoing further integration.

Profile

A CPA with 3 to 5 years of experience in accounting or audit, ideally with a background combining public accounting and industry, providing a strong technical accounting foundation as well as practical experience in an operational environment. Experience in a manufacturing and SME environment will be strongly preferred, along with exposure to consolidation and intercompany transactions. We are looking for an analytical, detail-oriented, and autonomous professional who demonstrates initiative and a genuine interest in understanding the business and improving processes. The candidate must be bilingual in French and English, have strong Excel skills and, ideally, experience with Power Query. We are looking for an ambitious professional who is motivated to grow, while seeking to deepen their expertise and gradually take on greater responsibilities rather than move into a Controller position in the short term.
