Description

We are offering you the opportunity to join a leading North American private company operating in the services sector as a Tax Analyst. Recognized for its sustained growth, entrepreneurial mindset, and commitment to innovation, the organization distinguishes itself through its focus on operational excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Operating across multiple markets and continuously evolving, the company offers a dynamic environment where ideas are valued and employees have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the business. It is also an organization that we know particularly well, having successfully recruited several professionals for the company over the past few years.

You will report directly to the Senior Director, Corporate Accounting, a leader recognized for his approachable, transparent, and collaborative management style. Highly involved with his team, he places a strong emphasis on mentoring, knowledge sharing, and professional development. This position is offered under a hybrid work arrangement.

As a Tax Analyst, you will play a central role within the team and will be involved in all aspects of the organization's tax function. Far beyond the preparation of tax returns, you will actively contribute to corporate tax compliance, indirect taxes, tax provisions, tax audits, and operational support activities.

You will participate in the preparation and coordination of federal and provincial corporate income tax returns while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and established deadlines. You will work closely with external tax advisors to ensure the quality and accuracy of all filings.

You will also be responsible for reviewing GST and QST returns, reconciling indirect tax general ledger accounts, and calculating tax installments. Leveraging your expertise, you will support both the accounting teams and business units by advising them on the application of tax regulations and assisting them in resolving complex issues.

You will contribute to the preparation of quarterly and annual tax provisions, participate in the financial close process, analyze variances, document tax positions, and support the continuous improvement of processes and internal controls.

In addition, you will serve as the primary point of contact for tax authorities and external advisors during tax audits. In this capacity, you will coordinate information requests, prepare supporting documentation, and help identify and mitigate tax risks.

Finally, you will actively contribute to various business initiatives and projects by performing tax analyses related to transactions and providing strategic recommendations to support the organization's growth and business objectives.

This is an excellent opportunity for a professional seeking a broad and dynamic role that encompasses a wide range of responsibilities extending well beyond the preparation of tax returns.

Profile

Bilingual CPA holding a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field, you have approximately five years of relevant experience, including at least three years in taxation. You have developed solid expertise in tax compliance, indirect taxes, and tax provisions while gaining a broad understanding of the various tax challenges organizations may face.

You are comfortable working in a multifaceted role that allows you to contribute both to technical tax matters and to the support of internal teams and business units. Completion of CPA Canada's In-Depth Tax Program or a master's degree in taxation would be considered an asset.

Recognized for your rigor, autonomy, and analytical mindset, you are able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines. You possess strong interpersonal skills and are capable of explaining complex tax concepts clearly, challenging existing positions when necessary, and developing solutions tailored to the organization's needs.
