Our client, a large and fast-growing private company in the distribution industry and a leader in its field, is seeking an Assistant Controller to join their team. You will report to a highly respected Corporate Controller who is supportive, approachable, calm, and always available to provide guidance. This is a great opportunity to work in a mature and stable company that offers strong visibility. The position is partially remote.
In this role, you will work closely with the Finance Controller and act as their right-hand to streamline processes, strengthen internal controls, and standardize policies across different subsidiaries. You will also co-lead the financial statement consolidation process and supervise a team of talented accountants, while actively contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
You will co-manage external tax consultants, including Big Four firms, ensuring that all matters progress efficiently and rigorously.
Additionally, you will participate in preparing strategic presentations, including the two annual board meetings for management. You will co-lead interim and year-end audits, ensuring the quality and accuracy of all deliverables.
Finally, you will perform ad hoc analyses and reports to support key organizational decisions and provide clear, strategic financial insights.
Bilingual CPA with a minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting. A background combining both public accounting and industry experience will be highly valued, as it provides a comprehensive and structured perspective on best practices. You will demonstrate strong leadership and be able to guide a team with confidence and support. We are looking for someone personable, energetic, down-to-earth, and able to challenge existing methods while maintaining a collaborative approach.
You will have a strong command of GAAP standards, and experience with IFRS will be a significant asset. You will work comfortably in Excel and an ERP environment, leveraging tools to optimize processes. This role is ideal for a proactive and resourceful professional who can adapt quickly to change and think creatively to propose innovative solutions.
