Our client, a fast-growing, internationally minded SME in the services sector, is seeking a Controller, Canadian Operations. In this role, you will report directly to the company’s VP of Finance, a highly accessible, calm, and transparent leader. He favors a leadership style based on autonomy and accountability, maintains regular weekly check-ins, and expects his team to communicate proactively. You will work in a corporate environment for a well-established local company with an international presence. The position is offered in a hybrid format and may require occasional travel.
As Controller, Canadian Operations, you will have primary responsibility for the accounting of the company’s Canadian operational entities. You will ensure the accuracy of daily operations (billing, accounts payable, journal entries, and reconciliations) and compliance with applicable standards. You will oversee deadlines, maintain the integrity of financial data, and continuously optimize processes.
You will coordinate the production of financial statements and monthly reporting, ensuring accurate results and effective communication with corporate finance. Through in-depth analysis of performance and key indicators, you will support decision-making and provide value-added recommendations.
You will also supervise the operational accounting team, fostering their development, quality of work, and achievement of objectives. In parallel, you will participate in project management, budgeting, forecasting, and audits.
Finally, you will play a key role in the continuous improvement of processes and tools, directly contributing to operational efficiency and the organization’s strategic growth.
Bilingual candidate with over 5 years of experience in the services sector, including 3 years in team management, and experience as a controller or in a similar financial management role. A CPA title and audit experience are strong assets.
You have a solid background in accounting or finance and a strong knowledge of accounting principles, including ASPE, as well as processes related to accounts payable, accounts receivable, and the general ledger. Recognized for your rigor, analytical mindset, and organizational skills, you are proficient in Excel, the Microsoft Office suite, and various accounting software (Maconomy and AI solutions are assets).
As a proactive and collaborative leader, you stand out for your sound judgment, ability to resolve complex situations under tight deadlines, and talent for mobilizing a team. With excellent prioritization skills, adaptability, and a constant attention to detail, you actively contribute to process optimization and strategic decision-making.
