We are offering you an exciting opportunity to join a North American leader in the manufacturing industry as a Cost Accountant. Recognized for its manufacturing expertise and technical know-how, the organization continues to grow by investing in innovation, process optimization and continuous improvement.
You will report to an Interim Controller whom we successfully placed within the organization. He is temporarily leading the accounting team until the current Controller returns. Highly approachable and readily available, he fosters a collaborative leadership style focused on employee development, accountability and empowerment. Passionate about continuous improvement, he manages his team using key performance indicators (KPIs) and consistently encourages process optimization and solution-driven thinking. You will benefit from an environment that combines the agility of a growing business with the structure and discipline of a large organization, where continuous improvement is embedded in the company's culture. This position offers a hybrid work model.
As a Cost Accountant, you will play a key role in the financial analysis and cost control of a manufacturing environment. You will contribute directly to the accuracy and reliability of financial information by ensuring the integrity of product costing, inventory valuation and financial data that support business decisions. Working closely with the Operations, Procurement, Finance and Corporate teams, you will serve as a strategic business partner focused on optimizing costs, improving processes and supporting the organization's financial performance.
You will be responsible for maintaining standard costs, cost models and overhead allocation methodologies to ensure an accurate and up-to-date costing structure. You will perform in-depth analyses of production variances, raw material, labour and manufacturing overhead costs while providing recommendations to improve operational profitability. You will also participate in reviewing bills of materials (BOMs), manufacturing routings and SAP system parameters to ensure the accuracy of product costing.
You will also play an important role in inventory accounting by performing regular inventory analyses, participating in physical inventory counts and monitoring inventory variances. You will record complex inventory transactions, ensure the accuracy of inventory-related financial data and support operational teams in improving inventory management practices.
From a financial accounting perspective, you will actively participate in the monthly, quarterly and year-end close processes. You will prepare journal entries related to inventory and cost accounting, perform general ledger account reconciliations, analyze variances and contribute to the preparation of financial information for management. You will also collaborate with internal and external auditors, as well as corporate teams, by responding to information requests and supporting audit activities.
Finally, you will contribute to the budgeting and forecasting processes by preparing planned costs, variance analyses and cost estimates. You will develop financial analyses and management reports that support strategic decision-making while participating in continuous improvement initiatives, financial process optimization and the strengthening of internal controls across the organization.
