You will report to the other Director of Accounting, an approachable and collaborative leader who values teamwork and employee development. In this role, you will play a key part in overseeing the organization's accounting function by ensuring the delivery of accurate, timely and compliant financial information. You will be responsible for the full month-end close process, including the preparation of consolidated financial statements and annual audited financial statements. You will ensure the accuracy of financial results, the quality of financial analyses, and compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements across both Canada and the United States. You will also prepare financial reports for senior management to support decision-making and monitor organizational performance.

 

You will oversee all general accounting activities by leading, coaching and developing a team of accounting professionals. You will ensure the integrity of the organization's financial systems while reviewing account reconciliations, journal entries, balance sheet analyses and consolidated financial statements. You will also be responsible for maintaining strong internal controls and ensuring the reliability of financial reporting. In addition, you will oversee the company's tax compliance activities, including tax planning, Canadian and U.S. corporate tax compliance, and the preparation and review of tax filings.

 

Working closely with the external auditors, you will lead the interim reviews and year-end audit process while coordinating the preparation of the audited financial statements, including the related notes and supporting schedules. You will also participate in various audits related to taxation, internal controls and regulatory compliance.

 

Beyond your core accounting responsibilities, you will actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by enhancing accounting processes, strengthening internal controls and implementing best practices across the finance team. You will also support selected financial planning activities, including the budgeting and forecasting processes, while collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to help drive the organization's growth and overall performance.

Profile

Bilingual CPA with a minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, gained in both public accounting and industry. The ideal candidate has a strong knowledge of IFRS and a solid understanding of US GAAP. Experience with, or a strong interest in, Canadian and U.S. taxation, particularly corporate income tax and tax compliance, is essential. Previous experience in the manufacturing sector is considered a strong asset. We are looking for a dynamic, proactive and solutions-oriented professional with strong leadership, communication and critical thinking skills. The successful candidate stays current with evolving tax legislation, adapts quickly to change, identifies opportunities for improvement and is committed to implementing best practices.
