Our client, a property management firm with a large portfolio of clients as well as several subsidiaries operating in IT and services, is looking for a Controller to join its dynamic team. You will report to the Director of Finance, whom Cielo placed in her role and whom we greatly appreciate. She is highly available to her team and the complete opposite of a micromanager. You will have the opportunity to join a company built on strong values of integrity, excellence, teamwork, and respect. You will be surrounded by sharp, driven professionals in a fast-growing organization.
As Controller, you will play a key role in overseeing accounting, financial management, and risk management within the organization. You will be responsible for supervising and mentoring the accounting technicians while ensuring the accuracy, rigor, and compliance of financial processes. You will oversee month-end closings and ensure the timely preparation of monthly financial statements for the various entities.
You will actively contribute to the management of intercompany transactions by overseeing their recharging and monthly reconciliation. You will ensure rigorous oversight of sales tax accounting related to vendor and client invoices and coordinate the preparation of tax filings for all entities. You will also be responsible for monitoring accounts receivable and payable, managing cash flow, and approving supplier payments.
With a continuous improvement mindset, you will propose and implement initiatives aimed at optimizing and automating accounting processes. You will lead and coordinate external audit engagements, whether review or compilation mandates, as well as the preparation of corporate tax returns. In collaboration with the Director of Finance, you will actively participate in the preparation and monitoring of the annual budget. You may also be involved in strategic initiatives such as financing or acquisition projects.
From a risk management perspective, you will ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial data in accordance with Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE). You will develop and implement the policies, procedures, and controls necessary to safeguard the integrity of financial information. You will closely monitor compliance with internal policies, recommend adjustments where needed, and ensure adherence to applicable tax and legal requirements.
Through your leadership, organizational skills, and attention to detail, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability of financial information, compliance with regulatory obligations, and the overall performance of the organization.
