Our client, a well-established family-owned Quebec SME specializing in customized health and safety solutions for the manufacturing sector, is looking for a Controller to take full charge of the financial management of its operations. You will report to a manager who values autonomy while remaining available to offer support — the opposite of a micro-manager. As Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire accounting department, including the accounts receivable and payable clerks as well as the billing technician. You will handle payroll processing on a bi-weekly basis for office employees and weekly for technicians. You will also be responsible for preparing and entering payroll journal entries in the accounting system, as well as reviewing and recording expense reports.
You will coordinate intercompany billing and payments while performing monthly adjusting entries. You will conduct monthly analysis of the balance sheet and income statement, in addition to preparing financial statements and performance indicators (KPIs) on both a weekly and monthly basis. Bank reconciliations will also be part of your responsibilities.
You will manage insurance matters and petty cash, and you will be responsible for preparing GST/QST filings (monthly and quarterly). You will also prepare the monthly report for the bank as part of the margining process.
As needed, you will back up team members in the event of absences or heavy workloads and handle the preparation of commission reports. You will also oversee the submission of wage and rent subsidy claims. Finally, you will play an active role in the preparation of annual budgets and year-end audit files.

Bilingual CPA with a minimum of 3 years of experience in a Controller, Chief Accountant, or Senior Accountant role, with strong accounting skills. We are looking for someone eager to enhance financial reporting and make a real impact. You have a solid grasp of accounting standards and a thorough understanding of the full accounting cycle. You demonstrate strong leadership, promote teamwork, and show initiative in a dynamic and evolving environment. You have basic knowledge of taxation, along with strong budgeting and financial analysis skills. You are proficient with IT tools and accounting software, including Excel, Sage 300, and a payroll system such as Employeur D or Nethris.
