Description
Our client, a specialized law firm with a strong human-centered culture, is seeking an Accounting Manager to join their team. You will report to a friendly, collegial manager who values collaboration. This is a great opportunity to join a fast-growing group that offers attractive benefits. The role is offered in a hybrid work arrangement.
You lead and inspire a remote, interprovincial accounting team, providing training, guidance, and support to ensure tasks and projects are executed efficiently. As a mentor and change catalyst, you foster the development of team members, manage workloads, implement best practices, and participate in annual performance evaluations. You also step in during team absences, help maintain a broad skill set, and collaborate with other accounting teams to optimize business processes.
In your project management role, you oversee local accounting department initiatives, coordinating with teams across offices to implement and update systems. You recommend improvements, participate in internal process reviews, and contribute to modernizing accounts payable processes, ensuring that policies and projects reflect best practices.
On the internal client service side, you support professional and administrative teams in managing transactions, expense accounts, billing, and resolving issues. You provide hands-on support to lawyers and assistants using the system to ensure smooth operations and client satisfaction.
You also handle specialized accounting tasks, including coordinating and supervising trust accounts, supporting the team during month-end and fiscal periods, and participating in performance management meetings for remote offices. You analyze trends, identify gaps and anomalies, recommend corrective actions, and contribute to ad hoc analyses related to lease management, business governance, and departmental compliance.
Profile
Fully bilingual CPA with a minimum of 7 years of experience in a law firm. You are able to quickly take charge during a transition and reach the expected performance level from day one. Your adaptability to the firm’s culture allows you to collaborate effectively with the Montreal office and with the director overseeing operations and office services, while seeking the right level of feedback to achieve your objectives quickly.
Versatile and flexible, you are a true “jack of all trades,” capable of handling a variety of tasks and meeting the needs of demanding clients. Your proactivity enables you to anticipate needs, resolve issues before they arise, and actively contribute to the overall performance of the department.
