Small and medium-sized company with Canadian and international activities in strong growth in the distribution and manufacturing sector (outsourcing of manufacturing production to Asia but local design and R&D and local product customization) recognized for its renowned brands. Our client is backed by strong investment funds with a long-term vision to grow in this promising sector and consolidate its leadership position in the market. You will work with an action-oriented, approachable president who advocates collaboration and a non-hierarchical structure. We are looking for a business partner who can bridge the gap between operations, commercial agreements and strategic partnerships to analyze financial performance and propose solutions to accelerate the company's growth. 


You will be in charge of a little more than 10 people on 2 sites in Canada in the management of the complete accounting cycle (hands-on). This team is composed of 2 Controllers on each site and then clerks who take care of the operational accounting. After having done a diagnostic of the finance function and having understood the operations of the organization, you will have to take charge of the recently acquired division that has not yet been fully integrated (operational functions) within the parent company in Montreal.


As VP Finance, your challenge will be to put in place the foundations to manage rapid growth, operationalize and challenge the strategic business plan to ensure the sound management of the company, develop a market watch to remain on the lookout for potential acquisition targets, and transmit financial information in a pre-established template to financial partners. To stay on top of the industry, the #1 Finance will work on inter-divisional and external benchmarking analyses.


We are looking for a candidate who is strong in accounting systems and financial information management systems (e.g. implementation and use of Power BI or others) who can optimize the communication of management information from the various divisions in real time. He/she must be able to integrate financial information from an ERP system other than the head office's and most likely integrate information from future acquisitions.


The successful candidate will be the President's right-hand man, overseeing the production of financial statements and being responsible for the audit file in collaboration with a major firm. In addition, he/she will be responsible for management accounting, budgets and financial structure (including project financing) and tax optimization. You will be responsible for the financial and administrative aspects of R&D credits as well as the compliance of cross-border transactions.


In this niche, cash management is important, you must mitigate exchange rate risks through hedging but also be able to manage global business risks.


This opportunity is ideal for a manager who is looking to contribute positively to the growth and profitability of a dynamic SME in acquisition mode. You will have a great deal of visibility, as you will be in contact with accounting staff, all management, investors, customers and suppliers in strategic partnerships as well as the board of directors.


Dynamic bilingual executive with an intrapreneurial approach who has worked as #1 Finance with over 10 years of relevant experience and who holds a CPA designation. Results-oriented candidate with experience in transactional finance and strategic planning, who will also be hands-on and ideally have at least one post-acquisition integration and system implementation to his credit. Knowledge of distribution, manufacturing and international trade is preferred.


We are looking for a good communicator with a coach-mobilizer approach for his team and who is also capable of having some influence on the president and on the investors.


We are looking for a technology and business intelligence oriented candidate who has had a direct impact on the growth, profitability and strategic direction of a company. Acquisitions, financing, risk or opportunity analysis (contracts, partnerships...) are definite assets.
