Our reputable client in the specialty pharmaceuticals sector, a growing Canadian division of the European parent company, is looking for a business partner to challenge, advise and interact with the CEO and operational staff in the management of their activities in order to optimize resources and achieve the best possible economic performance of the plant, as well as to liaise with the head office to explain forecasts and manufacturing performance. The reporting of these activities will have to be done in compliance with local standards and group rules, while ensuring a high level of internal control, sound risk management and asset preservation. 


The Divisional Controller will be involved in several business cases (Payback, outsourcing, quality issues...) and also in estimating the costs of new products (BOM, MOD, allocation of general and administrative costs) in collaboration with R&D, procurement, industrial development in order to fully understand what affects profitability. He/she will also collaborate with multiple stakeholders in establishing standard costs, ROI and transfer pricing. The targeted candidate is able to manage risk/control and operationalize strategy to optimize Galderma's growth in a dynamic, software friendly, and results oriented environment. 


As a business partner to the CEO and leader of his or her finance team, the Divisional Controller will be hands-on in implementing best business practices in terms of processes, systems and ensuring that the outsourcing of non-value added functions is efficient. He/she will ensure sound business management and produce financial information for the head office; financial statements and management reports for senior management.


The candidate will sit on the executive committee and will be an advisor who supports the management of the company through cost analysis, projects, medium to long term planning, implementation of business strategies, analysis and follow-up of major investment projects. All of this, thanks to his natural leadership that rallies the troops and maintains good relations with internal and external stakeholders in both official languages.  


The successful candidate will enjoy diagnosing, improving systems and processes in order to become more efficient with a knowledge transfer approach.

Perfectly bilingual CPA (English and French) with a minimum of 8 years of experience, including a few years in the manufacturing sector, which has had a concrete impact on the growth and profitability of companies. The successful candidate will master the accounting-financial cycle and will be able to see both macro and micro as he/she will sit on the executive committee and liaise with senior management at head office and, at the same time, work in a high volume manufacturing environment where the margin for error is slim.


The Divisional Controller is an expert in standard costing, (BOM, MOD, Cost drivers...) passionate about management accounting and has a global vision of the organization which allows him/her to make the links between several concepts such as R&D, industrial development, procurement, transfer pricing (taxation), cost center, CAPEX and project and grant follow-ups, risk matrix & internal controls, systems, financial and industrial accounting, budgets, trends... He/she must also have strong process improvement and systems skills to ensure that the outsourcing of non-value added finance tasks and functions is efficient.
