For a strong and growing property management and construction company, you will work as a Divisional Controller for the construction division, a position that was created to manage the growth of the business. You will report to a VP of Finance who is the opposite of a micro-manager, managing by objectives, with a give and take approach and leading by example. The latter likes to share his experience and business vision. This is your chance to be part of an organization with human values and a great business model as well as to exploit your management skills. The position is offered in a hybrid mode.

As a Divisional Controller, a large part of your responsibilities will be managing an operational accounting team of clerks and technicians. You will ensure that your team validates that invoices match the purchase orders of their respective contracts. In addition, you will be responsible for overseeing the accounting of subcontractor invoices. You will also be involved in the accounting and analysis of multiple concurrent projects and this is where your thoroughness will come into play as you will be required to ensure that invoices are received, handle the release processes as well as follow up on whistleblowing. The projects that the company undertakes range in value from $3M to over $200M. A smaller part of your mandate will be to allocate the overall administrative costs on the various projects. One of the challenges you will have to manage as Divisional Controller will be to review and improve processes in order to reduce the delay in producing financial information, processing and paying invoices to subcontractors.

Bilingual CPA with a minimum of 5 years experience as a Controller (great asset if in the construction industry - project accounting, release, whistleblowing...), with good analytical skills and ability to develop financial information and reports as well as advanced Excel skills. We are looking for a hands-on candidate who will, at the same time, be able to step back and create their own position. The candidate must be curious and able to progress internally; a team player, capable of investing himself/herself in order to positively impact the employees he/she will supervise. The ideal candidate will want to take part in the growth of a company by structuring his or her division to move to the next level. Also, team management experience in high volume operational accounting is an asset.
