We are looking for a Controller for our client, a SME with a strong brand image in the manufacturing, franchise and retail sectors known for service excellence through listening to needs, continuous improvement and teamwork. You will work directly with an energetic, goal-oriented, easy-going General Manager who values communication. We know this person well as he is a CPA and a former Cielo banker, he is very generous with his time, vulgarizes well so, an excellent coach/mentor.


The Controller will be the right hand of the CEO, he will supervise a chief accountant and a few clerks at 2 sites who will handle the operational accounting (daily accounting operations) and will be responsible for financial statements, budgets, internal controls and the audit file. The first year will be mainly devoted to reviewing the processes and tasks (accounting/admin operational structure) of the team that takes care of the stores which has a good attitude and good will but is perhaps a little less educated. The objective is to increase the autonomy, efficiency and rigor of the team through coaching and optimization of processes and controls. 


The Controller will be in charge of several projects; After consolidating the accounting foundations of the stores and integrating a recent acquisition, he will have to establish a budget process by function and create financial projections for the group and follow up.  He will review franchisee (royalty system) and factory processes, implement standard costing (BOM, MOD, Admin + General cost drivers), and KPIs.  Then, with a better understanding of the business, the controller should be well positioned to implement a new CRM system, ensure optimal controls are in place, and carve out a separate business unit that does not have its own financial statements and separate legal entity...


We are looking for a business partner who can link operations, business agreements and strategic partnerships to analyze financial performance and propose solutions to accelerate the growth and profitability of the company.


This opportunity is ideal for a manager who is looking to make a positive contribution to the growth and profitability of a dynamic small business, who wants to evolve into a VP Finance role and who would like to eventually become part of the shareholder base and/or participate via phantom shares or other such avenue. If you have the skills and interest, it is possible to move into a more transactional role through the mentorship of the CEO who has a lot of experience in this area. You will have a lot of visibility, as you will be in contact with all the departments and operations.

Proactive bilingual executive (CPA is a definite asset) who has worked in the management of the complete accounting and financial cycle of a company with more than 5 years of relevant experience in the manufacturing (costing) and/or retail (inventory) sectors and a few years in employee management. Results-oriented candidate who is passionate about management accounting with an intrapreneurial approach capable of making good decisions with 80% of the information. The Controller must be organized and strong in process review and improvement (controls/systems - ideal PM) as there is a need to solidify the accounting/operational structure and implement a budget process from scratch. 


The #1 Finance person must have a strategic vision for the organization and at the same time be able to get the ball rolling and structure the organization to move to the next level. Also, the successful candidate will have the ability to transfer skills and best business practices to their team to empower them.


The successful controller will ideally have at least one post-acquisition integration.
